The Queanbeyan Macedonian Dance Group - KUD Razigrana Makedonka - has been performing their traditional Macedonian dances for many years. Their costumes are based on traditional colours and designs and are made locally. The group travels interstate many times throughout the year to perform in other Macedonian communities in Sydney, Melbourne, Wollongong and Newcastle as well as performing for many local functions such as Canberra’s Floriade, National Multi cultural festivals and the Queanbeyan Harmony Day. The group also performs in the church hall for a number of Macedonian celebrations and dances throughout the year. The senior Group’s ages range from 15 to 22 years. The junior Group’s ages range from 10 to 13 years and a very junior group where ages range from 6 to 10 years. The children train twice weekly at the Queanbeyan Macedonian Church centre. The Group is very proud of their culture and background and the dancing group assists in keeping these traditions alive. |
